On November 1, 2017, Beacon Lodge #1493 and NYSEA Membership Chairman Carl Oken presented a support beam from the World Trade Center to Yorktown Lodge #2324. The beam was mounted in a cement base and is proudly displayed outside the front entrance of the Yorktown Elks Lodge in remembrance of those who lost their lives on 9/11/2001.
The Lodge held a dedication ceremony for our 9/11 Memorial, which began at 8:30 am on September 11th.
Father Christian Amah of St Patrick’s Parish began the ceremony with a blessing, followed by a few words from Exalted Ruler Brian Wolfson. Town Supervisor Ilan Gilbert speech. Town Councilman and Member Tom Diana presented a proclamation from State Assemblyman Kevin Byrne to Exalted Ruler Brian Wolfson. A moment of silence was followed by bagpipes, played by member Brian Ahearn.
